At Chapel of the Flowers, we are constantly meeting different couples with different stories and some affect us more than others. Tammy and Brian planned to get married here last April and everything was all set and ready for their wedding and reception. Tragically, the bride’s mother was in a fatal car accident the night before the wedding and they had to cancel. The couple eventually decided to reschedule for a few months later to focus on the life they have together.
Yes, I admit it, I am a TLC and WE network junkie. I will sit and watch “Say Yes to the Dress” or “Four Weddings” episodes back-to-back, all day long, even if I’ve seen them before (which, I usually have). My husband can’t understand it at all because the last thing he wants to do when he gets home is watch television shows about what he does all day at work. I’ve explained to him that being a Wedding Planner is more than just a “punch-in, punch-out” kind of job. It is an ever-changing, always evolving, opportunity to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for people that they will remember for the rest of their lives. I think that he, like many people, was under the assumption that getting married in Las Vegas was what you see in movies like “What Happens in Vegas” and “The Hangover.”
There are a few moments that take your breath away. Marci and David Phariss make one cute couple. They are a couple I will never forget. Let me tell you why! The bride’s name is Marci, which happens to be my name too! She even spells her name like it should be. I loved that I was able to coordinate their wedding. She kept saying to me, “You just have such a great name!” and I would always reply with something like, “Thanks, you too! It’s a great name!” I remember joking with her saying, “I guess I need to find a guy named David to marry, too!” We both laughed about that!
Ji and Pedro Perez are two locals that decided to get married spontaneously on February 10th. The couple met at work, and it was love at first sight! As they were dating, they knew they were going to get married but weren’t sure when.
The other week I had the pleasure of meeting one Mrs. Tanya Coomer (past bride) who stopped by the chapel while in Vegas for a girl’s trip (her first ever, with the intent of checking out Garth Brooks!). Tanya, all decked out in her Beatles ‘Love’ regalia, got married at Chapel of the Flowers nearly 11 years ago! She made sure to point out that she was still happily married to her husband, Matt.
