Yes, I admit it, I am a TLC and WE network junkie. I will sit and watch “Say Yes to the Dress” or “Four Weddings” episodes back-to-back, all day long, even if I’ve seen them before (which, I usually have). My husband can’t understand it at all because the last thing he wants to do when he gets home is watch television shows about what he does all day at work. I’ve explained to him that being a Wedding Planner is more than just a “punch-in, punch-out” kind of job. It is an ever-changing, always evolving, opportunity to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for people that they will remember for the rest of their lives. I think that he, like many people, was under the assumption that getting married in Las Vegas was what you see in movies like “What Happens in Vegas” and “The Hangover.”
On August 23, 2011, Kim and Mike Newman were married on a yacht on Lake Las Vegas! It was an experience that I will remember for years to come! Little did Mike and Kim know that it was Shanna and my first time doing a Lake Las Vegas wedding on the yacht. It turned out to be a success! Let me explain why.
It was on a Saturday morning that I came into work to start setting up a reception for a couple I didn’t know. I was getting nervous, but I was more excited than anything else and had all the details on what they wanted with their reception. I started setting up the tables and chairs and putting together everything that was included in their reception. It was getting closer to the time the couple would come into the Gardens for their party. It was so important for me to have everything perfect for this couple that I haven’t even met yet.
Robert and Chimere Smith got married on Saturday May 28th, in the Victorian Chapel. They purchased a traditional package, but added many extras that made their day perfect for their taste. They had a first look service, where Robert did not see Chimere until she walked down the aisle in her gorgeous wedding dress. The Smith’s also had a tulip photo package. In the tulip package they had a longer photo shoot and received a Chapel of the Flowers photo album.
